How to Feed Your Skin Vitamin C

We hear it all the time when we catch a cold: “Eat oranges for extra Vitamin C”. But did you know that  Vitamin C is also essential for healthy skin?

Vitamin C for glowing skinVitamin C contributes to the process of collagen creation, and helps prevent and repair photodamage. Photodamage is the harmful damage from UV rays due to peak sun exposure. It also protects skin from environmental stressors.

It gets better – Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that slows the rate of free radical damage. You know, the unstable molecules that contribute to fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and dry skin.

Although Vitamin C is naturally found in your skin, content levels decline with age.  You need a daily dose to keep it running through your system, because since it is water-soluble, it doesn’t get stored in your body. That means you need to fuel up on your Vitamin C daily to keep your skin looking its best!

Now that we’re convinced, let’s talk about how to get it into our skin.

There are two main ways to increase Vitamin C for maximum skin and  health benefits: Through your diet, and by applying it directly on your  skin.

Eat your Vitamin C

Try eating more high-nutrient fruits and veggies everyday. Here are some good sources:

  • Yellow Bell Peppers
  • Guavas
  • Dark Leafy Greens
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Kiwis
  • Berries
  • Tomatoes
  • Papaya

Topical Application

You can apply Vitamin C directly onto your skin for a clearer, firmer and healthier looking complexion. That’s why Vitamin C is a top ingredient in today’s skin care products. Be sure to exfoliate regularly too (at least weekly), as dead skin cells get in the way of maximum absorption of the vitamin.

Also, look for products with a 20% Vitamin C solution. Research available on Oregon State University’s micronutrient information center shows that a 20% solution allows for maximum absorption.

Perfect-CWe recommend you incorporate our Vitamin C serum into your daily skin care regimen.

It’s called The PerfectC  because it contains 20% Vitamin C in its most stable form, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid.  Other active ingredients include antioxidants Ferulic Acid and Ergothioneine, along with peptide Palmitoyl Tri Peptide 38.

This daily serum is lightweight, non-greasy and absorbs easily.  It enhances collagen production and reduces free radical damage for firmer, brighter skin!  One last thing – it does a great job of maintaining results from our chemical peel, but even if used on its own you will notice a more youthful complexion in as little as a few weeks!
